Notice regarding COVID 19

In light of the recent CDC recommendations urging social distancing, (reducing close contact between people), I will be implementing changes to our normal office procedures.  My goal is to take every action necessary to prevent community spread of the Coronavirus, as well as protect and ensure the safety of my employees, their families and the public.

Since Mayor Venable has issued a stricter policy concerning our county. I have chosen to close both the Bristol and Kingsport offices and work with limited staff operating solely from the drive thru at the Blountville office. Please know that we will do everything within our power to continue to serve the public’s essential needs as best we can, however, it would be best to prepare for some slight inconveniences. The wait time at drive thru line in the Blountville office has been quite lengthy so I advise the public to utilize the various services we offer online.

The governor has signed Executive Order 15 stating all Behicle Registrations, Disabled Placards and Temporary Operating Permits that are due to expire in March and April have been extended until June 15, 2020, so therefore we ask that you only utilize the drive thru at the Blountville office for essential services only. You can renew your tag online by clicking here or mail in your renewal to our office at 3258 Hwy 126, Blountville, TN 37617. Your request will be processed promptly and your new registration will be mailed to you. TN Dept. of Safety has announced if you have purchased either a new or used vehicle, you may operate that vehicle without registering and tagging it as long as you have a Bill of Sale or properly executed title proving ownership.

To ovtain a business license, go to www.sullivancountyclerktn.com and apply online. Your license will be mailed to you.

To obtain a marriage license, you can apply for your license online and then come through our drive thru in the Blountville office to pick it up. Both applicants must be present and show IDs.

We are not processing Driver’s License renewals, REAL IDs, Photo IDs or Handgun Permits in our office at the time. Executive Order 15 signed by Governor Lee delays the expiration of all valid Class A, B, C, D, P, and M drivers licenses. Photo ID licenses, and enhanced handgun carry permits set to expire between March 12, 2020 and May 18,, 2020. Such licenses shal instead expire six (6) months from the current date the license is set to expire. If you wish, you may renew your license online at TN.GOV

We are not processing REAL IDs at this time. The deadline for obtaining a REAL ID has been extended to October 2021.
